At BodPod sleepover bedding we think real good can come out of baby steps and that sometimes it’s the littlest things that make the difference. That’s where the Girl Power group comes in. Each month 55 girls meet to help each other through the complications of growing up today to find their own voices and ways of navigating through the many forms of pressure and high-expectations. Just 55. But with that number, guess what? Those girls talk to other girls. They talk to their parents. They talk to their friends. Soon enough the 55 girls have helped to enlighten a whole sea of people and the steps toward a brighter future have really started to fruition.
That’s why we are thrilled to be able to lend a helping hand to the Girl Power group, an organization that seeks to empower young women by building community and a forward-thinking dialogue and analysis of the many messages young women are swarming in day and night. Any mom knows how hard it is for “kids these days” – competition in sports is at an all-time, academic pressure is so extreme that parents not only put their kids on the kindergarten wait lists, before they are born. But now even news of students paying peers to take their SAT’s for them abounds and the immediacy with which young girls are “informed” that they have to look a certain way and like certain things in order to fit in is truly heartbreaking. The question is, what can we do about it? Not only as individual mothers but also as a society, as consumers, as a community based on care
We couldn’t be more proud of the Girl Power group and plan on donating more BodPod bed in a bags in the near future. Bravo team!
