I am a mom, a former athlete and coach. As an athlete, I spent years traveling to local and international competitions and our teams stayed in some, let’s say “interesting,” accommodations along the way.
My mother often commented about the cleanliness (or lack of) in the places we stayed, by pulling out a can of Lysol and practically fogging up the room. Evidently, clean air was secondary to clean sheets! I used to laugh at the ritual, but as I traveled, I grew aware that Mom was right! Public accommodations can be a far cry from your own home, sweet home. The more I traveled, as a mom with my two kids, and as a university and Olympic coach, the more I realized there is nothing like your own bed. I love being home and crawling into my own sheets, and laying my head on my own pillow. I simply sleep better, and sleep is critical. When I don’t have a great night of sleep, everyone notices.
When my children reached the age of sleepovers, camps, and traveling to their own sporting events, they would always take a blanket and pillow…it was a hassle. There had to be a better way, so I began creating the blueprint for what is now known as the Bodpod bed-in-a-bag. I love the fact that no matter where we go, we have a comfortable quilt, sheet, and pillow to sleep on, and it all fits easily into a well-designed backpack (a.k.a. sleepover bag) with inside pockets for personal items.
And now, we can have clean air AND clean sheets! (Thanks, MOM!)
So amazing, I love it!
